So last weekend, I had the awesome opportunity to go to Standout Productions. Standout is a pageant retreat weekend hosted by Chelsea Cooley (Miss USA 2005) and AT Dunn. I had SUCH a fantastic time. The weekend was a little like this...
I flew out of Boston in a huge snowstorm, escaping the wintery weather for a much warmer 30 degrees in Lynchburg, Virginia. While awaiting my connecting flight in NC, I was lucky enough to bump into Miss Texas. She was on her way to Standout as well, and I picked her right out of the crowd at the airport. Pageant girls really do "stand out"!
We arrived at Standout and hung out for a while in the cabins, just getting to know each other. Yes, we stayed in cabins in the woods! The retreat took place at a summer camp. Almost 30 of the Miss USA girls went, and it was great to meet the other contestants. They are all wonderful. We went roller-skating our first night there and played a crazy game of hockey. We did NOT get to bed at a decent hour because we couldn't stop talking! There were four girls to a room. I shared mine with New Mexico, Ohio, and Wyoming. What fun!!!
We spent the next morning in workshops with Chelsea, and the remainder of the day in the great outdoors. We played with horses, ropes courses, rock walls, and the infamous "leap of faith"- a 40 foot pole that we climbed up and jumped off while reaching for a trapeze. With a harness, of course! And a helmet, just in case. We played A LOT of camp games and had a great late-night bonfire. What an experience! By the time we got back from the bonfire, it was way past my bedtime... but we still managed to stay up even later to talk! Go figure.
The next day we had walking practice, and a lot of time to hang out. Flying out of Lynchburg was a real treat, because the plane was at least 50% pageant girls. They didn't know what hit them! All in all, it was a FABULOUS weekend and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I miss everybody!
Now I am back in snowy Vermont with MANY appearances and crazy busy things coming my way. I love it! I will keep you updated.
Thanks for stopping by!
